Weekend :: Transitions

Transitions

BY ERIC E. HARRISON
ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

Mi Ranchito
has opened in the former El Acapulco space, 1520 Market St., Little Rock. Like El Acapulco, this is also part of an Arkansas-based minichain, with restaurants in Searcy, Bryant, Batesville and Kennett, Mo. Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. The telephone number is (501) 223-5414.
A sign on the window of the former

Egg Roll King
in the Ashley Square Shopping Center, North Rodney Parham and Reservoir roads, says "Sushi & Grill Coming Soon." The restaurant will apparently also incorporate the vacant space next door. We'll keep you posted.
Meanwhile, the watch will go on to see how long the "Egg Roll King" sign remains on the shopping center's marquee; the El Tapatio sign stayed up there almost five years after the restaurant closed.
An alert reader has spotted a

Pizza for Less
sign on the front of the former

Olde World Pizza
, Arkansas 107 and Kiehl Avenue in Sherwood.
   And speaking of pizza, Jacksonville's

The Pizza Company
has moved, from a location north of the Little Rock Air Force Base to the

Howard Johnson Inn
, 200 T.P. White Drive, Jacksonville. The new location now allows the restaurant to serve beer. Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and they're considering opening up on Sunday as well. The telephone number is (501) 982-8299. And yes, they deliver.
And still speaking of pizza, Graham Cobb, operations director of central Arkansas' Jim's

Razorback Pizza
franchises, has been soliciting the customers of the restaurant in the Bella Rosa Commerce Center, 16101 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, to petition city officials for a zoning change to allow the restaurant to stay open late. The shopping center's hours of operation are 7 a.m.-8 p.m.; Cobb says the restaurant will stick to its posted hours, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.-midnight Thursday-Friday, 10 a.m.-midnight Saturday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday. The restaurant's phone number is (501) 868-3250. Has a restaurant opened -- or closed -- near you in the last week or so? Does your favorite eatery have a new menu? Is there a new chef in charge? Drop us a line. Call (501) 399-3667 or (501) 378-3513, or send a note to Restaurants, Weekend Section, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, P.O. Box 2221, Little Rock, Ark. 72203. Send e-mail to:
