Transitions

BY ERIC E. HARRISON
ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

Restaurant mogul Jerry Barakat says he plans to open a new Mexican seafood restaurant called

Blue Agave
next week in the former location of Gaucho's, in the Village at Rahling Road, Rahling Road and Chenal Parkway, Little Rock. You will remember Barakat recently moved Gaucho's to the former Tony Roma's location on Shackleford Circle in Little Rock. We'll get you the hours, menu details and telephone number when we get them.
The signs are up -- including the "now hiring" banner -- at

Pei Wei Asian Diner
in the northwest corner (University Avenue side) of the new Midtowne Little Rock shopping center, West Markham Street and University Avenue, Little Rock. Pei Wei is the "second label" of the

P.F. Chang
chain, offering a slightly lower-scale menu than its fancier big brother (there's a location on Shackleford Road at Interstate 630 in west Little Rock). We're working on hours, menu details and telephone number here as well.
The sidewalk on the south side of the 200 block of Little Rock's West Capitol Avenue, which had been torn up while trees were removed in front of the Bank of America building on the other side of the street, is now rebuilt, making it possible to easily access

Hanaroo
, a sushi bar and Japanese restaurant, and Italian eatery

Don Vicci
. Customers had been calling worried that the businesses were closed.
Construction continues apace on the new

Burger King
at West Markham and South Cedar streets, Little Rock. It replaces a previous BK at that location.
   And Browning's

Restaurant
, 5805 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock, will donate part of your lunch and/or dinner purchase to Lions World Services for the Blind as part of the nonprofit's monthly "Dine to Donate" program. For more information, call (501) 664-7100. Has a restaurant opened -- or closed -- near you in the last week or so? Does your favorite eatery have a new menu? Is there a new chef in charge? Drop us a line. Call (501) 399-3667 or (501) 378-3513, or send a note to Restaurants, Weekend Section, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, P.O. Box 2221, Little Rock, Ark. 72203. Send e-mail to:
