Transitions

BY ERIC E. HARRISON
ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTE

Mexican restaurant

El Acapulco
, 1520 Market St., Little Rock, has closed and the telephone has been disconnected. A sign on the door reads "We closed for new administration," and banners on the large sign and on the exterior of the building promise "Coming soon:

Mi Ranchito
, authentic Mexican food." We'll keep you posted.
   Nearby,

Kebab & Curry
, the Indian restaurant in the Market Place Shopping Center, 11121 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, has applied for a liquor license. A recent review bemoaned that customers were unable to wash down spicy curries with beer.
Restaurant mogul Lulu Chi says she's expecting to open her new Japanese restaurant,

Koto
, in the former Vermillion Bistro space, 17200 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, in early July. The restaurant will offer fairly high-end Japanese cuisine and a sushi bar.
Chi also operates Chinese restaurant Chi's at West Markham Street and Shackleford Road and its smaller branch at West Markham just west of Van Buren Street. She owns part of Japanese restaurant

Sekisui
on Shackleford. However, she recently sold the Japanese-sushi bar-Mongolian grill restaurant

Crazy Hibachi
, in North Little Rock's Lakewood Village.
   Central Arkansas' latest Jim's

Razorback Pizza & Sports Bar
has opened in what had been B.J.'s Family Buffet in Morgan (Morgan/Maumelle exit of Interstate 40). Information doesn't yet have a telephone number.
   The

Starving Artist Cafe
, 416 W. Seventh St., Little Rock, has changed its hours, closing for Monday lunch and opening for Saturday dinner "due to popular demand," says co-owner Paula Morell. The cafe's hours are now 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 5-9 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. The telephone number is (501) 372-7976 or visit the Web site, www.starvingar tistcafe.net Has a restaurant opened -- or closed -- near you in the last week or so?
