Trojans appoint Lee interim athletic director

UALR appointed George Lee interim athletic director Friday. Rick Mello's departure for Florida International becomes effective Monday.
Lee has spent the past four years at UALR assistant athletic director for business and operations, overseeing the day-to-day operations, and was responsible for budgeting.
Before coming to UALR, Lee spent 12 years working with United Parcel Service as a supervisor.
"With his involvement with the day-to-day operation of the athletic department for the past four years and his experience in management at UPS, we felt George was the best choice for a smooth transition between athletic directors," Vice Chancellor Bill Walker said.
Lee, a native of Hot Springs, is a 1987 graduate of UALR with a bachelor's degree in business management.
